Navigating the Waters

The onset of adolescence brings major emotional, physical and psychological changes in your children, sometimes resulting in behaviours that can be challenging for you as a parent.

In short, they are finding their way, but not without the involvement of YOU, the Parent.

Pressures around school, dating, and friendships become more important to them than ever before.  All these changes your child experiences will powerfully affect your role as a parent.

In addition, today’s teens are exposed to so much more in contemporary pop culture; they are constantly bombarded with adult issues like drugs, drinking, and sex. It may seem to you that they are growing up much faster than you did, with a greater need for parental guidance and love.

The good news is that despite all this, on the whole, today’s teenagers are adjusting well.

Teens nowadays are less likely to drink, smoke, do drugs, get pregnant, commit a crime or drop out of school, compared with their parent’s generation.  They volunteer more than ever and are much more spiritual.  Most teens would even say they have positive relationships with their parents, siblings, and friends.

Feel free to take advantage of the content we’ve put together for you on how to manage these sometimes challenging years effectively.
